Hansel \u00e9 um jovem que mora na Berlim Ocidental e que sonha em se tornar uma grande estrela do rock nos Estados Unidos. At\u00e9 que ele conhece um belo americano que lhe promete amor e liberdade e que pode fazer com que todos os seus sonhos se tornem reais. Mas para ir para os Estados Unidos com ele, Hansel precisar\u00e1 fazer uma opera\u00e7\u00e3o de mudan\u00e7a de sexo, pois somente assim com ele poder\u00e1 se casar. Assim nasce Hedwig (John Cameron Mitchell), que chega a Kansas no mesmo dia em que o Muro de Berlim \u00e9 derrubado. Preparando-se para dar in\u00edcio \u00e0 sua carreira, Hedwig utiliza pesada maquiagem, uma peruca a la Farrah Fawcett e forma sua pr\u00f3pria banda, chamada The Angry Inch. Por\u00e9m, Hedwig logo se apaixona por um garoto de 16 anos chamado Tommy Gnosis (Michael Pitt) que acaba lhe dando um golpe e roubando suas can\u00e7\u00f5es, tornando-se assim a estrela do rock que Hedwig sempre sonhou ser. Recusando-se a ser derrotada, Hedwig come\u00e7a ent\u00e3o a cantar juntamente com sua banda em restaurantes e bares, buscando o reconhecimento por seu trabalho.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

One day he meets a handsome American who promises love and freedom and could make his dreams come true. But to go to the United States with him Hansel he will need to submit himself to a sex change operation, because only this way he will be able to marry the American. Then Hedwig (John Cameron Mitchell) is born and arrives in Kansas on the same day Berlin Wall is demolished. Preparing to begin his career, Hedwig uses heavy make-up, a Farrah Fawcett like wig and forms his own band called The Angry Inch. But Hedwig soon falls in love with a 16-year-old boy called Tommy Gnosis (Michael Pitt) who deludes him and steals his songs, becoming a rock star Hedwig always dreamed about. Refusing to be beated, Hedwig starts to sing together with his band in restaurants and bars, searching for recognition for his works.<\/i><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
