“Different platforms allow the development of new themes and new content conceived from the technological possibilities that each one offers. Upon completing 30 years, Mix Brasil innovates with the inclusion of another axis in its programming: the experiences of extended realities (XR). XR is an umbrella term, used to designate this new genre of audiovisual production with immersive technologies that create an extension of our reality, especially virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR).
Studies on sexual diversity carried out with these new technologies are still rare. We were able to bring from France, The Netherlands, Taiwan, China and Chile award-winning and innovative projects that mix different languages and technological resources to address topics such as post-human parenting, transhumanism, female orgasm, group sex and different gender identities. Also, we present the world premiere of “”Flâneur””, a Brazil-France co-production carried out with live performances, sound immersion and VR.
The experiences presented at the 30th Mix Brasil Festival are the first meeting of LGBTQIA+ works in XR ever held in Latin America – and here we add the building of specific installations for each of them, expanding the immersion in their contents.”
