SYNOPSIS: Harvey Milk leaves New York and settles in San Francisco in 1972, with his boyfriend Scott Smith, willing to do something meaningful in his life. He opens a camera shop that becomes the salon for San Francisco’s growing gay community, and organizes gays’ purchasing power to build political alliances. He won a seat as a city supervisor in 1977, becoming one of the first openly gay elected officials in the history of the country. Oscar winner for Best Actor (Sean Penn) and Original Screenplay in 2009.
