Johnny Hooker is a singer and composer from Pernambuco State; his name emerged
in the nacional scene with the succes of the album Eu vou fazer uma macumba para te
agarrar, maldito! (I’m gonna put witchcraft on you to tied you up, you damned), that was
among the Rolling Stone magazine best albums of 2015 and earned him the Brazilian
Music Award as Best Singer; in addition, this album has generated singles like “Amor
Marginal” (Marginal Love) e “Alma Sebosa” (Sebaceous Soul) both of them becoming part
of Globo TV soaps soundtracks. His second album, Coração (Heart), brought about an
acclaimed participation at Rock in Rio Festival in 2017 and was nominated as Best Album
of Popular Music at the Brazilian Music Award. The first single taken from Coração, named
“Flutua” (It Floats), was awarded as Best Clip of the Year at MTV MIAW 2018 Award. His
songs and videos have more than 70 millions of streamings/views and have become part
of six Globo TV soaps soundtracks as well as many series and Brazilian or foreign films.
Currently, Johnny is the United Nations Ambassador for Equality.
